Our love affair with ikat (pronounced ee-kot; didn’t you always want to know how to say it?!) continues into Spring 2013, however many new prints and fabrics were added into the mix. Gorgeous silks, layers of lightweight cotton and skirts with the perfect amount of stretch comprise the line this year. The color palette used spans the gamut in order to make sure every woman can find a perfect piece just for them. From vibrant reds, shocking pinks and electric blues to refreshing greens, cheery yellows and laid back khakis, there is something for everyone.
All of our fabrics are hand printed and hand beaded in India to help make each piece one of a kind. Printing allows for stronger color combinations (we sure do love our brights!) as well as sharper and more intricate renderings of traditional ikat designs. Alligators, elephants and Sheridan’s signature quatrefoil logo have all found their way into the Spring 2013 collection.
A final word on the gorgeous Songket bags. Songket fabric is created via an extremely intricate and time consuming process of hand woven embroidery of silk and cotton. Each bag takes three months to make, and is a highly specialized skill hardly found outside of Bali, Indonesia. These pieces are only two of a kind in the entire world, and we know you will fall in love with the Songket as much as we have.
Garment Care Instructions
Dry cleaning is best to keep your brights their brightest, protect the embroidery from wear and tear and the beads as new.
